Engineering Students To Get Good Placements This Year: This time the IT industry may be kind to engineering students. There is a possibility that this time the students will get good campus placements in big companies. These companies have to visit the campus in September and preparations for this have already begun. The last few years have not been very good for employment in the IT field. Neither companies were coming to the campus nor good jobs were available.

According to a TOI report, big IT companies like Tata Consultancy Services, Accenture, Cognizant etc. have told top engineering colleges that they will visit campuses in September to hire candidates. Last year, a significant drop in placements was noted due to the lack of interest from the IT industry.

Not only this, some IT companies have clearly stated which subject experts they need, so candidates should be trained in those subjects in the final year. Cognizant has sent such a list and has asked for experts in specific subjects for hiring. It was also revealed from many sources of TCS that the company will visit the campus in September.
Hiring in these categories
The report further states that students expect TCS to select candidates in three categories. These are Ninja, Digital and Prime. According to an estimate, the annual package for Digital and Ninja can be around 7 lakhs and for UG students it can be up to Rs 9 lakh.
What do the experts say
Experts say that it is difficult to say whether the candidates will be hired in bulk or not but there is a possibility of better placements this time than the last two years. Apart from this, those candidates who are proficient in a particular area like cloud computing etc. will have more chances of getting placement.
So many companies showed interest
Some engineering colleges have even started training students for placements. They are being taught interview techniques, problem solving and Python programming etc. Around 95 companies have shown interest in campus placements. This time some foreign companies like Google and Microsoft are also showing interest in placements. If they hire candidates, then after a long gap the candidates will get placements in foreign IT companies.
